Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much do commercial metal awnings cost?

Commercial metal awnings are custom-quoted because price depends on size, product line, fascia height, finish, and quantity. MetalAwnings.com builds each canopy to spec - send your dimensions, product type, and finish and we will provide a firm quote.

2. Are aluminum awnings better than steel?

For most architectural canopies, aluminum is preferred: it will not rust, it is lighter to ship and install, and it holds powder-coat finishes well. Steel is heavier and stronger for certain spans but corrodes in humid, coastal climates like Florida. We manufacture in powder-coated aluminum for durability and low maintenance.

3. What materials and finishes do you use?

Our canopies are made from powder-coated, aircraft-grade aluminum (standing seam uses Galvalume panels). Finishes are available in any color from Tiger, TCI, Cardinal, and IFS, plus in-house woodgrain sublimation for the look of wood with the strength of metal.

4. What is the lead time for a custom metal awning?

Because we manufacture in-house in Tampa and ship on a Build / Crate / Ship model, lead times are typically faster and more predictable than a traditional fabricator. Contact us with your project details for a current timeline.

5. Do your awnings come with a warranty?

Yes - our products are warranty-backed. Contact us for the specific warranty terms that apply to your product and finish.

6. Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. We build and crate in Tampa, FL and ship canopies and awnings nationwide, ready to install on arrival.

7. Who do you work with?

General contractors, home builders, developers, architects, and property managers, as well as awning companies, sign companies, and dealers who need finished product to offer their clients.

8. What is the difference between G-Gutter and C-Channel canopies?

Both are powder-coated aluminum architectural canopies. G-Gutter integrates a concealed rainwater gutter into the fascia and offers fascia heights of 6, 8, 10, and 12 inches. C-Channel uses a channel-profile fascia in 8, 10, and 12 inches. Both ship welded fully assembled or as knock-down kits.

9. What fascia height should I choose?

Fascia height affects proportion and signage space. G-Gutter offers 6 to 12 inch and C-Channel 8 to 12 inch. Taller fascias suit larger buildings and storefront branding; shorter fascias keep a lighter profile. Tell us your building and we will recommend a height.

10. What is a standing seam awning?

A standing seam awning uses raised-seam metal panels (Galvalume in 16 or 24 inch widths) over an aluminum frame, creating crisp shadow lines and a premium architectural look while shedding water efficiently.

11. What are Bahama shutters?

Bahama shutters (Bahama-style awnings) are top-hinged aluminum shutters that prop open to shade windows and close against the opening when needed - a coastal look with real sun, privacy, and weather control.

12. What is woodgrain metal (sublimation finish)?

Woodgrain is a sublimation finish (by ARCHEX USA) that bonds a realistic woodgrain pattern to aluminum, giving the warmth of wood without rot, warping, or repainting. We can match wood-grain finishes for custom and corporate identity programs.

13. Do you offer welded or knock-down canopies?

Both. Canopies ship fully welded and assembled, or as modular knock-down kits for tight-access jobsites and easier freight.

14. Are your canopies engineered for Florida weather and codes?

Our products are engineered to meet demanding local code and weather requirements. Ask us about project-specific engineering and documentation for your jurisdiction.

15. How are the awnings installed?

Products arrive ready to install - welded units mount as a unit, and knock-down kits assemble on site. Contact us to discuss installation requirements for your project.
